3/3: Last Comic Standing @ Zanies

last comic standing

UPDATE: here are the winners from the Nashville showcase who will move on to the next stage: Dale Jones, Mary Mack, Taylor Mason, Heath Hyche, Erin Jackson.

On Monday, March 3rd, NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” will be holding open call auditions from 9-5 at Zanies in Nashville.. so start camping out now, insane homeless guy in the chicken suit! The call-back / “crushing disappointment for all” show is at 7:30 p.m. and costs $10. The news media and NBC cameras will be all over the place.. ignoring the actual comics in line and flocking to the wacky jackasses without a clue or any jokes. See you there!
Reports have been filtering in from comics around the country about how the auditions in other cities went.. and we’ve heard a LOT of negative remarks from a lot of angry people but comics still seem to want to go audition for it.. and it’s undeniable that the show has certainly made household names out of a few hard working, very funny people. Even if the chances are very slim of progressing on to the next stages of the competition, here’s an opportunity to get together with a hundred or so comics from all over – old friends and new ones – and have a unique, potentially fun day together.
On January 27, 2004, when they came to Nashville to film for season two.. we had a ball. N’Sup passed out fliers to everybody in line that said, “don’t worry, we didn’t win either” and had directions to our open mic show that night at the Bar Car. The place was packed and we had comic after comic go up until 2 or 3 in the morning. It was a lot of fun.
From Zanies.com:

NBC’s hit competition show “Last Comic Standing” and host Bill Bellamy is ready to roll in a barrel of laughs when they hit the road in a multi-city search for America’s funniest new comedian for season six.
“Last Comic Standing” is looking for one thing – someone who can bring the funny! Candidates should be at least 18 years of age and be prepared to showcase their funniest two minutes for the talent scouts. The top comics from each city will advance to the semi-finals where they will be narrowed down to the top 10 finalists, who will then engage in a fiercely funny and fast-paced competition where only one will become the next “Last Comic Standing.”
